EXPLORATION CENTER AT BAHA MAR RESORT

Baha Mar Resort in Nassau Bahamas is a vacation destination with purpose. They have created the Baha Mar Foundation, with the goal to champion sustainable conservation efforts, celebrate the diverse cultural traditions and artistic expressions of The Bahamas and strengthen the community through improvements in education.

Working with the resort’s chief scientist and B. Morrow Production, we created a program to teach young guest the importance of wildlife to the Bahamian people, economy and culture through engaging interactive experiences.

As art director for the renovation, I oversaw the project’s concept design and story development as well as production with the scenic vendor.

Connecting both retail and educational experiences, guests are able to “Adopt a Flamingo” through the purchase of an RFID enabled bracelet, which allows them to track their flamingo in the wild.

Pick up a conch shell from this display and put it to your ear, but instead of hearing the sounds of the ocean, you are treated with stories from locals on the importance of the conch to the local fishermen and the economy of the Bahamas.

The sea turtle display was designed to educate how important recycling is to keep our ocean ecosystems healthy. Above are swimming sea turtles made from recycled plastics.

An iconic feature of the space is a game for young guests to learn about the coral reefs that blanket the ocean floor of the Bahamas. By placing pieces in the correct order and quantities, we learn how important a balanced ecosystem is for a coral reef to thrive.
